11 years of Creating Peace through Education and Experience

Chaos Organizing is 11! Thats over a decade of organizing your homes!

Once, someone asked me if education or experience mattered more in organizing business, and my answer was, Both! Picture this: Armed with a dual-focus degree in Early Childhood Development and Family Studies, I dove into maternity counseling, outreach advocacy, preschool training, and education. And you know what? None of those incredible experiences would've happened without my education paving the way.

They were like puzzle pieces fitting perfectly into the picture of my successful business journey, teaching me to listen, observe, communicate, and, above all, teach.

But wait, there's more! On top of my education, I've clocked in 53 years of life experience. Yep, you heard that right. From being a working wife and mom to understanding the importance of turning a home into a sanctuary, my life's journey has been a wild ride. I've been there and done that, and I'm ready to use my real-world experience to revolutionize how people find peace in their homes. Enter the CHAOS method of Organizing – my brainchild dedicated to bringing peace and love back into our living spaces.

Fast-forward to now, and Chaos Organizing is throwing a party, celebrating 11 fantastic years in the business this April! Observing, listening, communicating, and teaching clients how to find serenity amidst the chaos has been a whirlwind. From helping creatives thrive in their mess to supporting overwhelmed moms and career-driven individuals seeking solace, my mission has been clear: transforming spaces and lives, one organized corner at a time.

And guess what? I'm not just a pro organizer; I'm also a mom who's felt the overwhelm and exhaustion, a career-driven individual needing a peaceful retreat, and a (self-proclaimed) creative soul who occasionally dives into wild craft projects. Yep, I get it because I've lived it, and that's what sets me apart.

So, why does the CHAOS method work like a charm? Because it's a perfect blend of education, experience, and real-life know-how. No two clients are the same, but with this method, we can tackle any space, turning chaos into calm and bringing that sense of peace back into your sweet home. Let's walk through that back door together, shall we? Peace and tranquility await, even in life's craziest moments! The CHAOS method is not just about organizing; it's about transforming your space and life.

Top Three Productivity Tips

In today's fast-paced world, there is always so much to do and so little time. We all want to be more productive and efficient but often struggle to find the right balance. Whether you are a student, a professional, or a stay-at-home parent, productivity is crucial to achieving your goals. Check out our top three productivity tips that will help you optimize your time and achieve more.

Prioritize Your Tasks

The first step to being productive is to identify your most important tasks. Prioritizing your tasks will help you focus on what matters most and avoid wasting time on less important activities. Start by making a to-do list and ranking your tasks in order of importance. You can use tools like Trello, Asana, or Todoist to help you stay organized and keep track of your tasks. Once you have your list, focus on the top three tasks and work on them first. Completing your most important tasks early in the day will give you a sense of accomplishment and motivation to tackle the rest of your to-do list.

Take Breaks

While it may seem counterintuitive, taking breaks can increase your productivity. Studies have shown that short breaks throughout the day can improve concentration, reduce stress, and boost creativity. Try the Pomodoro technique, where you work for 25 minutes and then take a 5-minute break. After four Pomodoros, take a longer break of 15-30 minutes. Step away from your desk during breaks, stretch, or take a walk. This will help you recharge and return to your work with renewed energy.

Eliminate Distractions

Distractions can be a major productivity killer. Whether it's social media, email notifications, or the temptation to check your phone every few minutes, distractions can derail your focus and prevent you from getting work done. To eliminate distractions, turn off notifications, put your phone on silent or in another room, and use website blockers like Freedom or StayFocusd. You can also try working in a quiet, distraction-free environment like a library or coffee shop. You can focus on your work and get more done in less time by eliminating distractions.

Productivity is not about working harder; it's about working smarter. You can optimize your time and achieve more by prioritizing your tasks, taking breaks, and eliminating distractions. Remember, productivity is a habit that takes time to develop, so be patient and consistent in your efforts. With these productivity tips, you can become a more efficient and effective version of yourself.

Create a Spring Capsule Wardrobe

Spring is a season of renewal and rejuvenation. It's the perfect time to declutter your closet and start fresh with a capsule wardrobe. A capsule wardrobe is a collection of essential, timeless pieces that can be mixed and matched to create a variety of outfits. By investing in quality pieces that you love and that fit your style, you can simplify your wardrobe and make getting dressed a breeze.

Choosing the Right Pieces

The key to creating a successful capsule wardrobe is choosing the right pieces. Start with a color scheme that you love and that complements your skin tone. Then, choose a mix of tops, bottoms, dresses, and outerwear that can be worn together in different combinations. Look for pieces that have a classic, timeless feel, such as a trench coat, a denim jacket, or a white button-up shirt. And don't forget about accessories! A few statement pieces, like a colorful scarf or a statement necklace, can add personality to your outfits.

Mixing and Matching

Once you have your capsule wardrobe pieces, it's time to start mixing and matching. Look for ways to combine different pieces to create new outfits. For example, a chambray shirt can be worn with jeans, a skirt, or even a pair of shorts. A black blazer can be dressed up with a skirt or worn casually with jeans. And a simple white t-shirt can be paired with just about anything. By focusing on versatile pieces that can be worn in different ways, you'll be able to create a variety of outfits without feeling like you're wearing the same thing over and over again.

Staying Organized

One of the benefits of a capsule wardrobe is that it's easy to stay organized. You'll have fewer pieces to keep track of, and everything will be coordinated, so you won't have to spend as much time deciding what to wear each day. To keep your capsule wardrobe in tip-top shape, store your pieces in a way that makes sense for you. Some people prefer to hang everything in their closet, while others like to fold their clothes and store them in drawers. Whatever method you choose, make sure that your pieces are easily accessible and that you can see everything at a glance.

A spring capsule wardrobe is a great way to simplify your wardrobe and make getting dressed a breeze. By choosing the right pieces, mixing and matching, and staying organized, you'll be able to create a collection of outfits that you love and that make you feel confident and stylish. So why not give it a try? Your closet (and your mornings) will thank you!

Tips for Cleaning Outdoor Spaces

Why is the laundry basket in the outdoor storage room?

Be honest; how many times have you found things in random places where they don’t belong?

Be honest; how many times have you found things in random places where they don’t belong?

After discovering the laundry basket along with a few other odd items, I decided it was time to clean up and reorganize my outdoor storage space. (Yes, even professional organizers can get disorganized from time to time.)

For someone with ADHD that loves the outdoors, I get distracted sometimes, (squirrel), but can easily jump back in right where I was.

Our outdoor storage room has three categories: Gardening, Household, and Pool Toys.

I started with the biggest hurdle ⎻ Gardening

We live on six acres with a large garden area. And large gardens require maintenance so we have a lot of chemicals and tools.

We have a variety of garden chemicals including plant food and fertilizer, insect repellent and weed killer, none of which are organic. Don’t come at me. To get these organized I used open bins to contain the bottles divided by subcategory, because it helps prevent messes if there are spills.

Garden tools were divided into pruners, forks, shovels and then odds and ends I only have 1 of. These were put into 6 quart bins, which are cheap, easy and readily available. Larger tools like watering cans, rakes, and large shovels were hung on a pegboard, that my handy husband installed.

Moving on to household items. We keep filters, lightbulbs for the garage area, and sliders for moving furniture in our outdoor storage. These items were placed on the top shelf in bins to protect them; and since they aren’t used as often we don’t need to reach for them frequently.

My kids are all grown up so the pool toys were the easiest to get organized, because they mainly consist of water guns now. They get pulled out a few times between Easter and Fall so they went on the pegboard for easy access.

Make sure to label everything for ease of retrieval!

To organize your own outdoor space use the C.H.A.O.S method:

Categorize - Put Like Items together.

Helpful or Hurtful - Is this something you use or is it just sitting there like a bag of rocks

Action - Are you keeping it, donating it, or trashing it? Those are your three options.

Organize - Now that you’ve purged your items, it’s time to organize. Put like items together and put them away in the space, keeping in mind the frequency of use

Simplify - Label, Label, Label. This helps you see what you have at a glance.

5 Things to Start Doing for A Clutter Free Home

Your home should be a place you love; somewhere to relax and unwind after a long day at the office. Choosing to bring order into an otherwise chaotic space can completely transform your living space, not just by hiding the mess but by creating an environment that is conducive to you and your lifestyle.

Your home should be a place you love; somewhere to relax and unwind after a long day at the office. Choosing to bring order into an otherwise chaotic space can completely transform your living space, not just by hiding the mess but by creating an environment that is conducive to you and your lifestyle.

Here are 5 things to start doing for a clutter free home today

Find a place in your home for your purse

Find a place for your purse, keys, glasses, anything that you need to walk out the door. These items need to have the same home every single day. Maybe it's a hook for your keys and purse by the door, maybe it's a table as you walk in, whatever it is make sure it works for you and your space.

Reset your house at the end of every day.

That means throw pillows get straightened, throw blankets go in the basket, dishes get done, make your house look like nobody lives in it. Remember to clear off your counters and tables so they are ready for tomorrow’s use. Take out the trash as soon as it gets full--it will make it easier to keep your home clean if there aren't piles of garbage sitting around! And if there’s any kid messes, have them help you reset their spaces too!

Toss your Junk Mail

Junk mail. Toss it before you ever even walk into your house. Go straight to your garbage can right now.

Everyone gets a Laundry Day

We all have laundry. Nobody wants to do it. Pick a day. That's the day you do laundry. If you have a lot of kids, it might be one day for each kid, but do your laundry.

Pick a Day to do errands

Are you doing errands every single day? Well, just stop, because that's just silly. Pick one day. Do them all. One errand day, And that's it that’s all you got.

Do those five things and you're going to stay organized better than you ever have. I promise. Do it today!
