How to Establish and Maintain Routines

A routine is a sequence of events that are repeated over and over again. Simple as that. Yet they are an incredibly powerful tool that can quite honestly change your life. Routines are necessary if we want to get through life without constantly being in a rush. They keep life simple, manageable, and enjoyable. Here are three ways to establish and maintain routines.

A routine is a sequence of events that are repeated over and over again. Simple as that. Yet they are an incredibly powerful tool that can quite honestly change your life. Routines are necessary if we want to get through life without constantly being in a rush. They keep life simple, manageable, and enjoyable. So, how do we establish and maintain routines?

The first step is to make a list of your routines and put it somewhere easily visible in your home until they are committed to memory.

You should create 3 routines.

  1. Morning Routine

Keep your morning routine as minimal as possible to get you out the door.

  2. After School/Work Routine

Do what is necessary to start tomorrow strong. If you have kids, this is a good time for them to do homework, repack their backpack, and pack their lunch for the next day.

  3. Evening Routine

Reset your home, check for last minute to-dos, and put things in place.

Next, you’ll want to eliminate time wasters. Before you get on social media in the evenings, make sure your evening reset routine is done. You’ll thank yourself in the morning when you’re already set up for a successful day.

Lastly, get organized! When everything in your house has a designated home, it becomes much easier to keep up with chores and routines become much simpler.

Having a routine makes a huge difference in your day-to-day life, but routines and organization go hand-in-hand. If you're unorganized, routines are a lot more challenging to establish and maintain. We can get you organized so you can live more simply and less chaotically!

The Hunting Closet

Hunting season is coming soon, and we know all too well what comes with it…. clutter! Hunting gear and equipment can take up loads of space in your home unless you have a designated space for it.

Hunting season is coming soon, and we know all too well what comes with it…. clutter! Hunting gear and equipment can take up loads of space in your home unless you have a designated space for it.

This is where the hunting room/closet comes into play. If you have an extra bedroom or a closet that is full of junk you no longer use, utilizing it as a hunting room may be a great option for you!

Garment racks are great for hanging clothing, while metal shelving works well for stacking bins of items like duck calls, bug spray, and ammo. Large plastic storage bins are good for larger items.

Here is our favorite hunting room that we’ve organized.

Nothing is more refreshing than a new football schedule. Past losses are wiped free, and anything is possible. There is a powerful feeling of hope at this time of year. It’s contagious and this is our South.

“College football is not like religion, it’s more important than that.”

-      Unknown

We are not sure who coined that phrase, but it certainly goes a long way in describing how Southerners feel about football. We absolutely love our football! Perhaps it’s the spirit of competition or the need to belong to something greater than ourselves, regardless the reason football is king in the South. From Friday night lights to college tailgating and NFL teams, we love it all.

If there is anything to know about football in the South, it’s that tailgating is serious business steeped in long traditions that vary by school. Whether you are at The Grove at Ole Miss or sailgating with the VOLS Navy on the Tennessee River before a game you are sure to discover the regional flavors that make these traditions so special.

Organizing the Garage for the Fall

With the Fall weather approaching, it will be a great time to clean out the garage. Here are a few tips to get you thinking about what you’ll need to do and the supplies you may need to purchase beforehand.

It may be hard to see at the moment with the hot summer temperatures still around, but there is a light at the end of the tunnel and the Fall is coming soon! With the Fall weather approaching, it will be a great time to clean out the garage. Here are a few tips to get you thinking about what you’ll need to do and the supplies you may need to purchase beforehand.

  1. Categorize your items.

Categorize everything you store in the garage (house maintenance, yard maintenance, outdoor activities, etc.).

  2. Contain the smaller items.

Put smaller items in bins and label them so they don’t get lost.

  3. Consider installing a peg board.

If you have the wall space, a pegboard is great for displaying tools, extension cords, etc.

  4. Consider getting a bike rack.

If you have kids that are old enough to put their own bikes away, consider purchasing a bike rack for them.

  5. Think floor space.

Keep the floor space as open as possible and look for vertical storage solutions.

Did you know we organize garages?

There are a limited number of dates, so get on the books now to have your garage organized in October!
